The Elizabethtown Winter Shelter provides a warm and safe environment for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the greater Elizabethtown and Mount Joy areas. The shelter is open daily from 6:30 pm until 8:00 am. While ECHOS oversees the shelter, volunteers are essential to the shelter’s nightly operation. We will follow all state and CDC guidelines for COVID-19.
Evening Greeter: 6:00—9:00 pm
Overnight: 9:00 pm—6:30 am
Morning Clean-up: 6:30 am—8:30 am

How and why did you start volunteering at ECHOS?
New Volunteers must attend a training session. In-person training sessions will be offered at Community Place on Washington,
61 E. Washington St. on the following dates (choose 1 session):
Space is limited to 10 for social distancing requirements. An RSVP is required.
Alternatively, new volunteers may come to Community Place to watch a training video in the computer lab during office hours of 8:30 am—4:00 pm. Staff will be available for questions.
